We are pleased to announce that Peninsula Medical Practice is to join Nutwood; a process we hope will be complete by the end of September. As part of this we will be re-opening Fairfield Surgery in Flookburgh after it has undergone a significant facelift, and any of the patients registered currently with either practice will be able to attend there. Dr Michael Bunter will be joining us as a salaried GP, and we will also welcome Dr Stuart Allan to the team. The Peninsula nursing team - Gwen Bolton and Leanne Thompson - will also be joining us, along with the Peninsula admin team. We believe this change will enable us to provide a more comprehensive service to the people of Grange, Flookburgh and the surrounding areas. We hope you will bear with us over the next couple of months as we go through the merger process - there are bound to be a few hiccups!
From Monday 8th June we are asking ALL patients to wear a face covering before entering the surgery. This could be in the form of a mask, scarf or a buff. Failure to do so may mean that a clinician will refuse to see you. We will contact all patients in advance to inform them of this new requirement. Please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment. All first contact with the practice can be through AskmyGP or the telephone.
Dr Greaves will be joining us at the start of June and will work two days a week (Monday and Wednesday). She joins us from a practice in Kendal where she has worked for several years.
Nutwood Medical Practice has been awarded a 2020 Certificate of Excellence by iWantGreatCare.
iWantGreatCare is awarding the Certificate of Excellence 2020 to those clinicians and practices who are most highly and consistently recommended by their patients. The award is presented in recognition of the great care they deliver to their patients. As a practice we are delighted to receive the award and thank all those who have provided feedback on our services in the past year.
Our Practice is delighted to have been selected to be part of the Health Foundation's major project to improve continuity of care for our patients. Dr Reeve has led the application for this project on behalf of local GP practices in South Cumbria, and the local GP Federation has been awarded £250,000 over two years to support this work across local practices. Most patients prefer to see the same GP as often as possible and there are also major health benefits in doing so. Over the next 12 months we hope to make it easier for people to see or speak to their regular GP most of the time. By introducing the AskmyGP system we hope to make it easier for people to achieve this.
The Practice closes approximately one afternoon per month for Staff Training. The dates of future closures are listed below. On these days, the Practice will close at 1pm. If you require urgent medical assistance during these times, please call NHS Out of Hours on 111.
